The Barão de Nelas estate is situated in the very heart of the
demarcated Dão region in North Central Portugal, where wine-making has been a way of
life for centuries. The estate has been in the hands of the family of the Baron of Nelas
and his descendants since the end of the seventeenth century and has wine cellars that
date from 1741. The vineyards of the 7 hectare estate are planted in a fertile sandy clay, granite based
soil, and are located on the sunny South facing slopes of the estate, producing a slowly
ripened and rich wine,
